The Walk-Up Trees
Between January, 1958 and May, 1960
There were two trees at the river that you could walk up. You didn't have to climb - you just walked. The one on the left was easier. The one on the right needed a run to get up as far as possible.
The play hut where we'd gather for prayers or take shelter from the rain is just visible on the right, behind the tree. This is where I tore so many skirts off my dresses - climbing on the rafters.
